There was a car crash (a “head-on collision”) November 1, 2017 on Illinois Route 15 in Washington County in which three people died (i.e. a “triple-fatal” crash.)
According to information provided by the Illinois State Police (ISP) the crash was a “head-on collision” which happened after one SUV (a Jeep) crossed the center line and collided with another SUV, a Buick.
The crash happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Illinois Route 15 at Madison Road.

According to a release from the Illinois State Police, Patricia Smith, 67, of Louisville, Ill. was driving was on Illinois Route 15 at a high rate of speed.
Investigators said she crossed the center line as she was going into a curve and slammed head on into a car driven by Karen Lunte, 70, of Nashville, Ill.
Among those who died in the crash were Patricia Smith, Karen Lunte, and a passenger in Lunte’s car, identified as Diane Maschhoff, 65, of Hoyleton.

Police cited the cause as improper lane usage and driving too fast for the road conditions.
