There was a fatal motorcycle accident Friday (July 21, 2017) on the east side of Mt. Vernon.
The crash happened at approximately 1:36 p.m., and involved a collision between a motorcycle and car.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates the crash involved a car that made a left-hand turn immediately in front of an oncoming motorcycle, a common cause of Illinois motorcycle accidents that cause serious (and in many instances fatal) injuries. A primary cause of such collisions is that motorists fail to see motorcyclists.
