Three Motorcyclists Crash On I-64 In Washington County

Group motorcycle riding can present a number of safety issues, and there have been many accidents which have occurred when motorcyclists have been riding together as a group.

There was a motorcycle accident today (February 17, 2017) in which three motorcyclists riding in a larger group crashed.  The accident happened on I-64 in Washington County.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the crash happened as the riders were traveling eastbound, a few miles from Okawville.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., a car in front of the group slowed, and the motorcyclists collided.

An excerpt from the article of February 17, 2017, titled “I-64 closed for motorcycle crash in Washington Co near St. Louis MO,” quoting Illinois State Police Trooper Joey Watson:

“They were traveling too closely together within the group; it was a chain reaction,” Watson said.

One of the motorcyclists, identified as Brandon Harrison, 33, of Columbia, Mo., was ejected from his motorcycle.  He was flown to a hospital for treatment of accident injuries described as serious in nature.

Another motorcyclist, Arron Chaney, 30, of Junction City, Kansas, was taken to a hospital for treatment of accident injuries.

The third motorcyclist, Mikhail Williams, 24 of Columbia, Mo., refused medical treatment.

Another excerpt from the article mentioned above:

All three riders were wearing helmets. Chaney was charged with failing to slow down to avoid an accident.

A crash investigation is ongoing.
