Southern Illinois Accident Lawsuit Alleging Speeding And Driving Without Headlights

As seen in the many Southern Illinois vehicle accidents that have been discussed throughout this site, accident injuries that result from these crashes are often serious in nature, and in some cases are fatal.

Many of these accident injuries require significant amount of medical treatment, including hospitalization, diagnostic tests, surgeries, and rehabilitation.  Such needs for medical treatment can be prolonged if the accident results in permanent injuries and other types of permanent or semi-permanent impairments.

Because of the harm that occurs and the expenses typically involved in such injuries, many people seek compensation through the filing of a personal injury lawsuit if the accident was the fault of another person or party.

An example of such a Southern Illinois personal injury lawsuit claiming negligence on the part of a motorist is discussed in the Madison Record article of December 8, 2016 titled “Motorist alleges man was driving without headlights.”  As seen in the article, the plaintiff is Dennis S. Moore and the defendant is Michael Burris.

An excerpt from the article:

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 14, he was traveling south on Mud Creek Road in Marissa. He claims he was stopped at a stop sign and then began to turn onto Illinois 13 when the defendant collided with him at high speed. Moore alleges he could not see the defendant’s vehicle because his headlights were not on.

As a result, the plaintiff sustained severe and disabling injuries resulting in physical and mental pain, medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life, the suit states.

Additional details can be seen in the Madison Record article mentioned above.
