Lawsuits Alleging Vehicles Getting “Rear-Ended” And Whiplash Injuries

The December 2, 2016 print edition of the Madison Record features four Southern Illinois lawsuits that allege people were injured after their vehicles were “rear-ended” by other vehicles.  These lawsuits are seen in the following:

Family accuses motorist of negligence in rear-end collision

Motorist accused of causing rear-end collision in Granite City

Woman sues over Collinsville rear-end crash

Troy motorist accused of rear-ending another vehicle

The lawsuits allege various types of injuries and expenses – including lost wages – and allege types of negligence.

When one vehicle “rear-ends” another vehicle, the driver in the front vehicle can suffer various types of injuries.  One common type of injury is that caused by “whiplash.”  Whiplash has the potential to cause serious medical issues for the occupants of the vehicle that gets “rear-ended.”  During whiplash, those vehicle occupants typically have their heads and necks forcibly bent backward and forward. During this unnatural motion, various muscles, discs, nerves, and tendons in the neck are engaged during the whiplash motion.  Many factors – including the force of the collision – dictate the extent and severity of the whiplash and the resulting accident injuries.

Whiplash and accompanying medical issues are further discussed on this “Whiplash” page.
