Man Dies After Rollover Accident In Grand Tower

As discussed on the “Southern Illinois Rollover Accidents” page, there are many conditions and characteristics that may lead to a vehicle rollover.  Vehicle rollover accidents often lead to serious accident injuries – and possibly fatalities – due to the forces and impacts that often accompany these types of crashes.  If the vehicle occupants are not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, there is the possibility of various serious accident injuries that can occur due to partial and full vehicle ejections (i.e. when the vehicle occupant(s) are thrown from the vehicle.)

There was a rollover accident on Tuesday (November 15, 2016) in Grand Tower.   According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on Power Plant Road.  Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies went to the accident scene at approximately 1:33 p.m.  The Sheriff’s office says that the driver was heading east on Power Plant Road, approaching the intersection with Illinois 3, and apparently the driver failed to properly negotiate a curve.  The vehicle overturned.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Gerald Gray, 79, of Grand Tower, was taken to the hospital and died from accident injuries.

The accident investigation continues.

Additional details regarding this fatal Southern Illinois accident can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the November 16, 2016 article titled “Grand Tower man dies in rollover crash” as well as the November 16 article titled “Southern Illinois man killed in rollover crash.”
