A motorcyclist died after being hit by a SUV on Illinois Route 15 in Jefferson County on the night of July 4. The accident happened in Bluford.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Travis Allen, emergency responders were alerted to the crash at 9:18 p.m. The crash involved a SUV and motorcycle at the intersection of Illinois Route 15 and Bluford Region Road.
At that time, the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 15. As the Tahoe was cresting the hill at Legion Lane, the driver saw lights at the bottom of the hill and couldn’t stop the SUV before “rear-ending” a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was identified as Gregory Bullard, 42, of Bluford.

Reports state Bullard was speaking when he was loaded into the ambulance, however, he passed away later in the evening while being transported to a St. Louis hospital.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Myles Tate, 20, of Belle Rive. He was not injured during the crash.
