The car-motorcycle accident happened at Frank Scott Parkway and Sullivan Drive, which is also referred to as Union Hill Road. The two vehicles involved in the crash were a Chevrolet Impala and BMW motorcycle. The crash happened shortly before 5:00 p.m.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Impala did not yield the right-of-way when making a left turn onto Sullivan Drive, also known as Union Hill Road, from Frank Scott Parkway. The driver, identified as Darriel Clayton, was cited for failing to yield, according to police.
The motorcyclist was identified as Jorge J. Marles, 32, of Fairview Heights. He was initially taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, and then flown to St. Louis University Hospital. He died on Thursday.
This fatal Illinois motorcycle accident remains under investigation by the The Metro East Crash Assistance Team and the Fairview Heights Police Department.
