Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision In Randolph County

There was a fatal three-vehicle accident Monday (April 18, 2016) in Randolph County.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident happened at approximately 8:55 a.m. on Route 150, east of Route 4, near Steeleville.

At that time, a Chevrolet Cavalier traveling westbound on Route 150 veered (for an unspecified reason) into the eastbound lane, and struck the trailer of a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.  Then, the Chevrolet Cavalier struck a Freightliner semi truck, that was behind the Chevrolet Silverado, in a “head-on” collision.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier was identified as Lynette A. Koch, 39, of Cutler.  She was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the Randolph County Coroner.  The passenger in this car was identified as Shawn Michael Williams Farmer, 20, of Cutler, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.  He died at the hospital.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was not injured during the accident.  The driver of the semi suffered unspecified injuries.
