According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the accident happened at approximately 4:38 a.m. as a SUV was traveling southbound on I-57.
An excerpt from the March 21, 2016 kfvs12.com article (with video) titled “TX woman killed in crash on I-57 in Franklin Co., IL“:
Investigators say the driver of a 2005 Buick Ranier, Geornisha Brown, was traveling south on I-57 when she drove off the left side of the road and over-corrected while trying to bring the vehicle back into the lanes.
Police say this called the vehicle to roll over twice. It then came to a rest in the median.
During the accident the two passengers, Shareita R. Patton, 22, of Texas, and Geornisha D. Brown, 22, of South Bend, Indiana, were ejected from the vehicle. Neither was wearing seat belts, according to police.
Shareita R. Patton was declared dead at the accident scene. Victoria Fleming was taken to a hospital for treatment of her accident injuries, as was Geornisha Brown.
