There was a Southern Illinois ATV accident Tuesday night (August 4, 2015) in Simpson.

According to authorities, three teenagers were injured after being involved in a crash as they were riding on the ATV.

The three teens were 13, 14, and 15 years old.

The driver of the ATV, a 14-year-old female, suffered head and facial injuries.  The two boys had injuries including broken legs.

An excerpt from the August 5, 2015 thesouthern.com article titled “Teenagers injured in Tuesday night ATV accident expected to recover“:

Jordan said that given the inexperience of the driver, and the fact that three teenagers were riding one ATV at a high speed and without helmets, they are all lucky to have survived the crash.

also:

It is illegal to drive an ATV on a public road; state law requires that off-road operators be at least 16 and have a driver’s license.
