There was a fatal accident Thursday evening (June 25, 2015) in Gorham, Illinois in which two boys were struck by a car.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 6:00 p.m., as two boys were playing on a sled in front of their house. The sled slid into the path of a car that was driving on Sarenson Road. According to the Sheriff’s Office, there was tall grass and trees on the property that may have contributed to the driver not being able to see the boys near the road.
The two boys were identified as Tyler Marquith, 10, and Nicholas Marquith, 8. They were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Murphysboro, were they later died from their accident injuries.
The driver of the car that hit the boys was identified as a 25-year-old woman from Gorham. According to the Sheriff’s Office, excessive speed is not a contributing factor in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
