There was a fatal collision in Union County, Illinois near Anna on Thursday, December 11, 2014.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the accident happened on Illinois Highway 146 near Locust Grove Road at 12:57 p.m. The accident happened as a Toyota Yaris crossed into the opposite (eastbound) lane at the crest of a hill, and, and collided “head on” with a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, whose driver had attempted to swerve right to avoid the collision.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris, identified as Lenzie M. Johnson, 43, of Cape Girardeau was taken to Union County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An 18-month-old boy, also in the car, was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, identified as Liz (Richmond) Dickerman, 66, of Piedmont, had to be extricated from her car, and then she was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment of accident injuries.
