Two Fatal Car Accidents In Benton, Illinois

There was a fatal “head-on collision” on Friday night (December 12, 2014) in Benton that was followed by a second fatal crash.

The first collision occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Illinois 37 about two miles north of Yellow Banks Road.  For a currently undetermined reason, a “head-on collision” occurred between two vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles, identified as Nicholas Lee Doyle, 23, of Benton, died following the collision.  The female driver of the second car involved in the collision was airlifted to a St. Louis-area hospital, according to the Franklin County Coroner.

Following this crash, a man drove upon the accident site and swerved to avoid the vehicles.  In doing so, he lost control of his vehicle, and the vehicle left the roadway.  The driver was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle landed on him, which caused his death, according to the Franklin County Coroner.

This driver was identified as Forrest R. Hudson, 42, of Benton.

There were no passengers in any of the three cars involved in these two car accidents.
