Fatal Train Accident In Vandalia, Illinois

There was a fatal Southern Illinois train collision Thursday night (October 30, 2014) in Vandalia, Illinois.

This accident happened as a Chrysler Pacifica was attempting to cross the railroad tracks in Vandalia’s Main Street Crossing, when it was struck by a CSX train.

There are conflicting accounts as to what led to the accident.

Three children in the Pacifica were pronounced dead at the accident scene.  They were identified as Abby Wisnasky, 10; Drake Wisnasky, 13; and Alyssa Sewell, 18.

A fourth passenger, Dylan Wisnasky, 9, was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital.

The driver and mother of all four passengers, Crystal D. Anna, 35, of Greenville, later died from accident injuries.
