I-57 Collision In Marion, Illinois

There was a Southern Illinois car accident this evening (September 1, 2014) on Interstate 57 (I-57) in Marion, Illinois.

According to the Illinois State Police, this Williamson County crash happened at approximately 6:55 p.m., and happened on the Interstate 57 entrance ramp at Illinois 13.

The collision involved a pickup truck, attempting to make a right turn onto the Interstate 57 southbound entrance ramp, colliding with a Ford pickup truck that was attempting to make a left-turn onto the ramp.  Both vehicles were traveling on Illinois 13 previous to the accident.

The collision between the vehicles resulted in the Chevy pickup truck overturning and landing upside down on the ramp.

The only person who was injured during this collision was a 61-year-old woman passenger in the Chevy.  She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.  Her injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The driver of the Chevy pickup truck, Douglad Goodman, 74, of Marion, was charged with failure to yield to merging traffic.
