Fatal Southern Illinois Two-Car Accident

There was a fatal car accident last night (May 13, 2014) in Lawrence County in Southern Illinois.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), this accident happened on U.S. 50 about one mile to the west of Illinois 33, at approximately 11:40 p.m.

This car accident happened as two vehicles were driving westbound on Route 50.  A man driving a 2010 Chevy Camaro attempted to pass a minivan.  As he did so, his Camaro hit the back of the minivan.  The impact caused the minivan to “spin out,” while the Camaro ran off the road, went down an embankment, and ran into some trees.

The Camaro was driven by Kyle Andrews, 31, of Bridgeport.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The minivan was driven by Amanda Lockhart, 37, of Bridgeport.  She sustained minor injuries during this accident and was taken to a local hospital.
