Two Granite City, Illinois Fatal Motorcycle Accidents

There have been two Southern Illinois fatal motorcycle accidents this week in Granite City.

Details regarding these accidents appear limited at this time.

The first happened on Wednesday (May 7, 2014) when a motorcycle collided with a Budweiser tractor trailer truck just after 6:00 a.m.  The motorcyclist was identified as Jeffrey Pride, 44, of South Roxana.

An excerpt from the bnd.com article of May 8, 2014, titled “Granite City man dies in second fatal motorcycle crash in 2 days” :

Police said Pride was traveling south on Missouri Avenue toward the intersection with Konzen Court, when he struck the tractor-trailer turning north from Konzen onto Missouri. Pride was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second fatal motorcycle accident happened the next day, Thursday, May 8, 2014.

This motorcycle accident involved a motorcycle that crashed at approximately 2:45 a.m., near the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Benton Street.  The motorcycle may have hit a curb.  

The motorcyclist was identified as George Petchulat, 51, of Granite City.  He was taken to St. Louis University Hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.
