There was a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon (May 4, 2014) on Illinois Route 140 in Alton, Illinois.
According to a press release from the Madison County Coroner, at the time of the accident the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 140 near Stanley Road on a 2007 Suzuki GSX-600. At approximately 1:06 p.m., he lost control of the bike, hit a curb, and then a sign.
The motorcyclist, identified as Dustin E. Aldridge, 27, of Wood River, was taken to Alton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

According to the release, an X-ray examination of the decedent indicated that he died as the result of a fractured neck. Routine toxicology testing for the presence of alcohol or drugs will be performed. The Alton Police Department continues their investigation of the incident.
