Semi Truck Accident In Pope County, Illinois

There was a semi truck accident in Pope County Thursday (April 17, 2014) evening.

This accident involved a log truck that was driving north on the Bay City Blacktop at approximately 6:00 p.m., when the driver lost control of the truck and the truck overturned at the intersection with Azotus Road.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) identified the truck driver as Randy L. Payton, 58, of Raleigh.

Payton was hospitalized with serious injuries.

As a result of the crash, Payton was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and improper operation of a commercial motor vehicle. 

This Southern Illinois accident remains under investigation.
