Various I-57 Vehicle Accidents In Southern Illinois

There were three separate vehicle accidents on Interstate 57 (I-57) on Tuesday (February 4, 2014) in Jefferson County, Illinois.  All three accidents happened at or near mile post 82.  Ice and snow on area roadways is being cited as a likely cause of these accidents.

The February 6, 2014 Mt. Vernon Register-News article titled “Accidents shut down interstate”  provides details on these various accidents, some of which involved drivers who were cited for driving too fast for conditions.

These Southern Illinois vehicle accidents involved cars, semi trucks, and an Ina Police car.

None of these vehicle accidents were fatal or considered to be life-threatening.

Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the Mt. Vernon Register-News article mentioned above as well as article of February 4, 2014 titled “I-57 southbound closed near Ina.”
