There was a fatal Southern Illinois car crash Saturday evening (January 25, 2014) on I-64 in East St. Louis, Illinois.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) say that the accident happened at approximately 8:30 p.m., as a Chevrolet HHR struck a guard rail on the right side of the interstate.
An excerpt from the BND.com article of January 27, 2014, titled “Passenger killed in I-64 crash; driver hospitalized” :
The car skipped out into traffic on the three-lane section of the interstate, missing other vehicles before slamming back into the guard rail. It slid 161 feet along the guard rail before coming to a stop, according to the investigation.
The passenger in the Chevrolet HHR was killed. The driver was taken to a local hospital.
This car accident remains under investigation.
