There was a fatal vehicle accident in Southern Illinois (White County) early Tuesday morning, January 6, 2014.
Details on the causes of this Southern Illinois vehicle accident appear limited. However, it is being reported that the accident happened at approximately 12:30 a.m., as Cameron D. Gunter, 20, of Carmi was driving a pickup truck westbound on White County Road 2550N. For an unknown reason, he lost control of the pickup truck. It left the roadway, and overturned on its side in a ditch.

Gunter was taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital, then taken to the White County Jail.
Gunter was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, gift/delivery of alcoholic liquor to persons under age 21, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
Additional charges are pending.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) Gregory W. Dillman, 18, of Carmi was killed in the vehicle accident. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the White County Coroner.

The other passengers in the truck, Brittanie A. Garrison, 19, of McLeansboro, Kenley J. Masterson, 18, of Carmi and a 17-year-old from Carmi, were transported to White County Jail and charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
