There was a Southern Illinois pedestrian accident on Friday, December 27, 2013.
The pedestrian accident happened at approximately 8:58 p.m., as a woman was walking along U.S. Highway 51, south of De Soto, Illinois. As she was walking, she dropped some of her belongings onto the roadway. As she attempted to pick them up, she was struck by a vehicle.
The woman was identified as Lisa Wenzel, 49, of De Soto. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Wenzel has been identified as James Hart, 42, of Centralia.
This pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
