Fatal Southern Illinois Car Accident On I-57

There was a fatal Southern Illinois car accident on Interstate 57 (I-57) near Ina, Illinois on Christmas Eve.

The accident happened at approximately 12:40 p.m. when the driver of an SUV, for an unknown reason, lost control of the vehicle.  The SUV then crossed the median and collided with an oncoming semi truck.

Two passengers in the SUV died.  They were identified as Jill Gibson, 49, of Hopkinsville, KY and an as-yet-unidentified 13-year-old boy.

The SUV’s driver, identified as Megan Michelle Hester, 22, of Maryland Heights, MO was seriously hurt, as were three other passengers.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
