Fatal Car-Truck Collision in Randolph County

There was a fatal Southern Illinois vehicle accident in Randolph County on Friday, December 13, 2013.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), at approximately 3:28 p.m. a collision happened between a car and semi truck at Woodcox Road and Illinois Route 154.  The traffic accident happened after a passenger car traveling westbound on Illinois Route 154 lost control for an unspecified reason, and entered the eastbound lane.  In entering the eastbound lane, the car collided with a semi truck.

The driver of the car, identified as Myron M. Hughes, 21, of Belleville, was ejected from the car.  He was declared dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the semi truck was identified as Shawn D. Lever, 41, of St. Louis, Missouri.  He was taken to a local hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.
