Five Dead After Fatal Southern Illinois Vehicle Accident

There was a fatal Southern Illinois vehicle accident near McLeansboro on Saturday night, November 23, 2013 that led to the death of five people.

The accident happened on Anderson School Blacktop Road at approximately 10:25 p.m.  A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of an SUV lost control of his vehicle.  The SUV then flew into the air and overturned repeatedly, at which time five vehicle occupants were ejected.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Darrell Delong, 49, of Collinsville.  He survived the accident, but was listed in serious condition at Deaconess Hospital of Evansville, Indiana.

The five people killed have been identified as Tammy Delong, 35, of Collinsville; Robert Parker, 49, and Lori Parker, 42, of Collinsville; Diana Wright, 23, of McLeansboro; and a girl, age 16, whose name has yet to be released.
