Traffic Accident In Carbondale, Illinois

There was a traffic accident in Carbondale, Illinois early Monday morning, November 18, 2013.

A vehicle was southbound on University Avenue when it struck another vehicle driving westbound on West Main Street.

The vehicle that had been driving westbound on West Main Street then drove into landscaping and trees, and then struck a building.

The man driving the car southbound on University Avenue has been identified as Humberto Barenca, 49.

According to a “web release” from the Carbondale Police Department:

Barenca fled the scene, but was later located and arrested for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Traffic Accident, No Valid Driver’s License, andDisobeying a Traffic Control Device.

Both the driver of the damaged vehicle, along with an unidentified passenger in Barenca’s vehicle, were taken, with non-life-threatening injuries, to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
