There was a fatal vehicle accident involving a pickup truck early Wednesday morning (June 12) in Jackson County, Illinois.
The accident happened when the pickup truck (a black 2003 Chevy Silverado SS) was traveling eastbound on Chautauqua, a quarter mile east of West Pleasant Hill Road, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The truck ran off the road, struck several trees, and came to rest upon its side. The accident happened at approximately 5:20 a.m.
The driver of the truck, Ryan M. Robbins, 33, of Murphysboro was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
There was also a passenger in the truck, Joseph Z. Hawk of Carbondale, 33. He had to be extricated from the vehicle before being taken to a local hospital, and then later transported to St. Louis.
