Fatal Motorcycle Accident In Jersey County, Illinois

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday night in Jersey County.  One person was killed and one was seriously injured.

The accident happened on Otterville Road north of Fry Lane.  The couple was riding a Harley southbound on Otterville Road when the motorcycle left the roadway and traveled into a ditch.

It is unclear which of the two people on the motorcycle was its operator.

According to the Illinois State Police, John W. Snider, 70, of Grafton, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the accident scene, at 8:17 p.m.

As well, Nancy K. Bowman, 53, of Grafton was injured;  she was first taken to Jersey Community Hospital, then airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital where she was listed in serious condition.

The accident remains under investigation.
