On Saturday night, there was a fatal motorcyle accident in Makanda, Illinois. Both the rider of the motorcycle and the passenger were taken to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, were the rider later died from his injuries.
The rider of the motorcycle has been identified as James Greenwood, 36, and his passenger (and fiance) was Shelly Dwyer, 36.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department says the couple was riding east on Makanda Road, when their motorcycle hit a guardrail and traveled down an embankment. The accident happened at approximately 7:05 a.m., and happened a mile east of US Highway 51.
