Fatal Car Accident In Gallatin County, Illinois.

There was a fatal car accident on March 27 in Gallatin County, Illinois.

The accident, which only involved one vehicle, led to the death of Shelly M. Curnell, 39, of Salem, Kentucky (whom was also known as Shelly M. Welsh).  She was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The Illinois State Police reported that the accident happened at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Illinois Route 1, to the north of the Gallatin-Hardin County line.  The accident is said to have happened as Curnell was driving north, when she lost control of her car for some unknown reason.  As she did so, she “overcorrected” and the car left the roadway and struck a tree.

The accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
