On Thursday morning, November 1, there was a three-vehicle accident on Illinois 13 in Carbondale, Illinois. A Carbondale Police officer and the driver of a car sustained minor injuries during the collision.
The accident happened at approximately 7:07 a.m., as a Carbondale Police car was traveling east on Illinois 13, .7 miles west of Reeds Station Road. While the police car was attempting to turn left onto the median, it was “rear-ended” by a RAV4 driven by Michele Martin, 26, of Carbondale. Martin’s RAV4 then flipped onto its roof.
The third vehicle involved was a 1988 Mack dump truck. Its driver, trying to avoid the accident, crashed the truck into a bridge, causing minor damage.
