Southern Illinois Man Dies After Truck Accident In Gallatin County, Illinois

There was a semi truck accident Tuesday evening on Route 13 in Gallatin County, Illinois.

The accident appears to have happened after the truck’s driver, Thomas E. Neumann, 46, of Cave-In-Rock, lost control of the vehicle at approximately 5:30 p.m.  The truck crossed the center line, traveled into the eastbound lane, and then veered off the south side of the road.

The accident is being attributed to an unknown medical issue suffered by Neumann.

Motorists, and then emergency personnel, aided Neumann.  He was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center; however, he was declared deceased at approximately 6 p.m.

The accident remains under investigation.
